1. Sample Overview

The sample comprised 90 companies of various sizes including large, small and medium- sized enterprises (SMEs), along with local and multi-national companies (MNCs).

The companies selected represented the different industry sectors of Trinidad and Tobago’s private sector. The final sample was comprised of the following seven sectors:

  1. Energy and Related Industries;
  2. Finance, Insurance and Real Estate;
  3. Construction and Related Industries;
  4. Communications & Transport;
  5. Distribution and Dealership;
  6. Manufacturing;
  7. Services & Tourism (Restaurants, Hotels and Recreation).

For the purpose of data analysis, a sub-sample of Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) was constructed, based on these two criteria:

  • Less than 500 employees, and
  • Revenues lower than TT $100 million.
